Our story
A place to sit down on Flagler Avenue.
LUMA is family-run. We built it around an open-air venue because the best part of this town is being outside in it.
Flagler Avenue has plenty of places to grab something and keep walking. We wanted the opposite: somewhere you sit down, order a second coffee, and lose an hour without noticing.
So the venue came first. Umbrellas and a pergola for the heat, string lights for the evening, real chairs, room for a stroller and a dog, and parking on site so getting here is not a project. Then the cafe went in behind it, then the kitchen, and then the wine bar, because a day at the beach does not end at noon.
The coffee program is ours. The syrups are made in our kitchen. Nosara, our kitchen, cooks coastal food to order, all day. The gelato comes from Turin. The wine list is short on purpose. Nothing here is complicated, but all of it is done on purpose.
Most of what happens at LUMA is not on a menu. Craft nights, live music in the venue, dog meetups, birthday parties that run long, workshops under the umbrellas, and the regulars who are in the same seat every morning at ten past seven. That is the part we are proudest of.
What we care about
Four things, in this order
01
Good coffee
Pulled properly, all day, by people who drink it themselves.
02
Good food
Made to order in our own kitchen. Fresh ingredients, coastal flavours, no shortcuts.
03
Good drinks
A short wine list, spritzes, cold beer and a house-made hard lemonade worth ordering twice.
“And good people. That one is on you.”
In the venue
Something is usually happening
Live music, craft nights, markets, dog days, watch parties and private celebrations. We know most of the local artists and vendors, and we would rather the venue be full than quiet.
